Harris to provide Cumberland County, TN with public radio system
Harris Corporation and their partner, AMK Services, have been awarded the contract to provide Cumberland County, TN with a new standards-based six-site public safety radio system. This system will be used by more than 350 public safety personnel, including the Cumberland County Sheriff’s department and fire department.
This large project will include Harris’ BeOn® mobile application which extends to benefits of the P25 system by allowing communication on the system from a mobile device anywhere that there is Wi-Fi coverage.
Kenneth Carey, Mayor of Cumberland County, TN, said, “Since the Harris PSPC and AMK Services team engaged with us several months ago, we have been very pleased with the company’s development and implementation of the project from start to finish. They worked closely with us and made sure they understood the needs of our county”.
The BeOn mobile application will enable the Sheriff’s office and fire department of Cumberland County to monitor emergency communications, no matter where they are. Based on an innovative client/server design, BeOn is able to operate over any combination of the existing commercial cellular 3G and 4G broadband data networks, Wi-Fi networks, and LANs of today and has been designed to leverage the private LTE networks of the future providing for integrated communications across regional and national boundaries.
